Making it HAPPEN!!!
Alberta Out of Country Health Services Committee considers applications for insured medical services that are not available in Canada. In 2000, Rod had a spinal cord stimulator implanted in the USA and Alberta Health covered the cost. On November 30, 2011 the committee declined our application for the Nevro implant in Netherlands. We have submitted an APPEAL which will be considered by a separate panel on Feb. 6 or 7, 2012. We will be informed of their decision within 20 working days by letter. We would like the government to cover this procedure so that we have ongoing support.
With the encouragement of family and friends to fundraise, we have decided to go ahead -- knowing that the Appeal may be declined and the procedure will be our cost. In the event that Alberta Health comes through with funding, we have set up the information in the following way:
Please do not feel that you have to contribute financially. We value support in the following ways ...or whatever you creatively think of!

- PLEDGES - for medical costs potentially covered by Alberta Health. Pledges that are not needed will not be collected.
- DONATIONS - for costs that we know we have to cover ourselves
